NZ sharemarket rises

The New Zealand sharemarket's benchmark NZX 50 index climbed 10 points (or 0.3%) to 3070 on turnover of $18 million during Tuesday morning trading.

At 12.17pm, Fletcher Building was up 6 cents to $7.52, Telecom was up 1 cent to $2.33 and Contact Energy fell 2 cents to $5.60.

Auckland International Airport was unchanged at $1.83.

Sky City Entertainment was up 7 cents to $3.20 after posting a rise in after-tax half year profit this morning.

Sky Television Network was down 2 cents to $4.67 and Air New Zealand was unchanged at $1.32.

Freightways was down 1 cent to $3.05 after announcing its first half profit fell 14% as sales fell.

Pyne Gould Corporation was unchanged at 43 cents.

The Warehouse fell 1 cent to $3.77, and Hallenstein Glasson was down 2 cents to $3.55.

Steel and Tube was unchanged at $2.50, NZX up 8 cents to $2.07.

New Zealand Refining was up 8 cents to $3.65.

In currency markets, the NZ dollar was is trading at 69.70 US cents, 78.39 Australian, 44.50 British pence, 62.77 Yen, 0.5126 euro. TWI stood at 64.64.
