Tourism Holdings moves back into profit

2:03 pm on 24 February 2010

Tourism Holdings, which makes and owns camper van rental brands such as Maui and Britz, plans to triple investment in its Australian rentals business to increase its fleet there.

It has just reported a $1.4 million net profit after tax for the six months to the end of 2009.

In the same period the previous year, the company lost almost $300,000.

Tourism Holdings chief executive Grant Webster says the better than expected performance has led it to lift a wage and salary freeze across the group and make a one-off payment to staff.

He says there has been a much quicker recovery in revenue than expected, especially in Australia.

Shareholders will receive an interim dividend of 2 cents per share.
