NZ sharemarket closes up 13 points

The New Zealand sharemarket's benchmark NZX 50 index closed up 13 points, or 0.4%, to 3226 on turnover of $64 million on Wednesday.

Fletcher Building finished the day up 3 cents to $8.10, Telecom was up 3c to $2.24 and Contact Energy was down 6c to $6.06.

Sky City Entertainment Group was unchanged at $3.25, Sky Network Television was up 2c to $5.05 and Fisher & Paykel Healthcare was up 2c to $3.31.

Air New Zealand was up 1c to $1.34 and The Warehouse was down 1c to $3.94. Allied Farmers was up 0.1c to 7.6c.

The New Zealand dollar was buying 70.61 US cents, 77.12 Australian cents, 47.18 pence, 63.61 yen and 0.5192 euro. The Trade Weighted Index was 65.27.

Across the Tasman, the ASX 200 index was down 1 point, or 0.3%, to 4819.
