Xero looks to devices like iPad

7:01 am on 6 April 2010

Xero founder and chief executive Rod Drury says the increasing use of netbooks and mobile devices such as Apple's new iPad, will help to drive the company's growth over the next few years.

Mr Drury says Xero's use of cloud computing, which lets customers access their programmes anywhere and anytime over the Internet, means it's in a prime position to take advantage of this growing trend.

The listed accounting software company has nearly tripled its number of paying customers to more than 17,000 over the last year, and as a result is forecasting its operating earnings will treble this financial year.

Mr Drury says the adoption of cloud computing will accelerate as it becomes more common to do business on the move.
