12:02 pm on 7 April 2010

A Chilean operating subsidiary of New Zealand's Greymouth Petroleum has made what it calls a significant gas find, which could lead to commercial drilling.

PetroMagallanes made the discovery at a well in the Caupolican Block on Chile's Tierra del Fuego.

The company has approval to explore and produce petrol on four blocks covering 9000 square hectares of land around the Straits of Magellan.
