NZ market higher at close of trade

The New Zealand sharemarket rose 26 points, or 0.6%, to close at 3355 on Wednesday. Turnover was $54 million.

Fletcher Building gained 17 cents to $8.45 a share, Telecom was up 4c at $2.24 on the announcement of a new director for its mobile division, while Contact Energy also gained 4c to $6.48.

Nuplex fell 7c to $3.40 after the Securities Commission issued legal proceedings against the resins and chemicals maker, alleging it breached continuous disclosure rules.

Sky City Entertainment gained 2c to $3.30, but Sky Television was down 5c to $5.16.

Air New Zealand was 1c lower at $1.40 and Auckland International Airport rose 3c to $2.03.

Fisher & Paykel Appliances was unchanged at 61c. Fisher & Paykel Healthcare was also unchanged at $3.40.

New Zealand Oil and Gas was up 1c to $1.62. New Zealand Refining fell 5c to $3.90

Retailer The Warehouse was 6c higher to close at $3.89 per share.
