New Zealand sharemarket ends on high

The New Zealand sharemarket finished the week higher, with the benchmark NZX50 index rising 4 points, or 0.1%, to 3286 on turnover of $65 million on Friday.

Fletcher Building finished up 6 cents to $8.41, Telecom was down 2c to $2.17 and Contact Energy was unchanged at $6.25.

Sky Network Television was up 7c to $5.03, NZ Oil % Gas was up 1c to $1.55, Pike River Coal was down 3c to $1.12, Fisher & Paykel Healthcare was up 3c to $3.53 and Fisher & Paykel Appliances was up 1c to 64c.

Pumpkin Patch was up 4c to $2.24 and The Warehouse was down 1c to $3.77. NZ Refinery was up 6c to $3.75, Turners and Growers was up 6c to $1.46 and OceanaGold was up 3c to $3.43.

Lyttelton Port was up 5c to $2.50 and Restaurant Brands was up 2c to $2.33.

The dollar was buying 72.5 US cents, 77.97 Australian cents, 47.28 pence, 68.18 yen and 0.5474 euro. The Trade Weighted Index was 67.61.

Across the Tasman, the ASX 200 index was up 24 points, or 0.4%, to 4809.
