Hewlett-Packard is to buy smart phone firm, Palm for $US1 billion.
HP says Palm's webOS operating system will help it expand more aggressively in the market for smart phones and connected mobile devices.
When Palm's debt is included, the deal values the company at $US1.2 billion.
