NZ market higher at close

The New Zealand share market was up 39 points, or 1.2%, to 3195 at the close of trade on Thursday.

Fletcher Building gained 8 cents to $7.92 per share, Telecom was up 3c at $2.13 and Contact Energy was up 1c at $6.15.

Air New Zealand was up 1c to $1.24, while Auckland International Airport also gained 1c to $1.97.

Sky Network Television was unchanged at $4.80, while Sky City Entertainment was unchanged at $3.

PGG Wrightson was up 1c to 57c after the receivers of Rural Portfolio Investments, announced on Wednesday the sale 46 million shares in the company to repay creditors.

NZ Oil and Gas was unchanged at $1.50, Pike River Coal was unchanged at $1.03, and New Zealand Refinery fell 10c to $3.45.

Fisher and Paykel Healthcare rose 1c to $3.43, while Fisher and Paykel Appliances was unchanged at 63c.

At 5.20pm on Thursday, the New Zealand dollar was buying US 71.75 cents, 79.70 Australian cents, 48.30 pence, 66.91 yen and 0.5668 euro. The Trade Weighted Index was at 68.30.
