No breach of Fair Trade Act over XT claim - commission

5:44 pm on 18 May 2010

The Commerce Commission says it appears that a marketing phrase used by Telecom for its XT mobile phone network did not breach the Fair Trading Act.

The company has claimed in the past that its network covered 97% of New Zealand's population.

A complaint was made to the Commerce Commission last month about the claim, which is no longer on Telecom's website.

The comission has assessed the complaint and is not proposing to undertake a full investigation.
