Internet company AOL has sold the social networking site Bebo to Criterion Capital Partners, a small private investment company.
The price was not disclosed.
AOL paid $US850 million for Bebo two years ago.
Bebo was once seen as a market leader but has been overtaken in popularity by Facebook and Twitter.
The BBC reports Bebo's headquarters is to remain in San Francisco, in the near term at least.
