BNZ has become the last major bank to increase its floating interest rates, after the Reserve Bank lifted the benchmark Official Cash Rate to 2.75% nearly two weeks ago.

BNZ will raise its floating rate by 0.25%, to 5.84%.

It follows Westpac, which increased its rate by 0.2% to 5.85% on Monday night.

ASB was the first to lift its variable rates, making its announcement on Thursday, followed by ANZ and the National Bank on Friday.

Kiwibank followed suit with an announcement on Monday.
