Westin Hotel operator in receivership

The company that manages the Westin Hotel complex in Auckland has been placed in receivership.

Lighter Quay Hotel Management failed to reach an agreement with its creditors, including room owners who lease the hotel rooms to the collapsed company.

KordaMentha have been appointed as receiver and is reassuring people that it wants to keep the hotel open.

Michael Stiassny of KordaMentha says he and fellow receiver Brendon Gibson want to meet the hotel operator and representatives of the hotel room owners as soon as possible.

The Westin Hotel opened in 2007, and Mr Stiassny says it's popular with locals, and other domestic and international guests and is fully booked for the Rugby World Cup next year.
