New contract boosts shares

Shares in SmartPay rose 10% on Thursday, after the company announced it had won the contract to upgrade EFTPOS products in Foodstuffs Auckland's stores.

The contract will involve the installation of 1300 units at multiple stores over the next three months.

The company says this order, combined with recent ones to Mitre 10, Paper Plus Group and Postie Plus Group, is worth more than $11 million in sales and services.

Shares in the company rose 3 cents to 33c.
