Monthly building consents issued for new houses fell to a 10-month low in July.
Statistics New Zealand says 1269 consents were issued during the month. That was down 5.3% from the previous June.
Consents for new houses have now fallen in three of the past five months.
However, there was a sharp rebound in consents for new apartments in July: 203 new ones were issued during the month, the highest since May last year.
The value of consents for non-residential building rose slightly in July, but remains around a four-year low.
