New Zealand share market slips

The New Zealand sharemarket slipped on Wednesday, with the benchmark NZX50 index fallling 12 points to close at 3161 on turnover of $76 million.

Fletcher Building was up 1 cent to $8.15, Telecom was up 4c to $2.13, Sky City Entertainment was up 2c to $2.97 and Sky Network Television was up 9c to $5.19.

Fisher & Paykel Healthcare was up 2c to $3.06, Vector was unchanged at $2.07, Mainfreight was up 4c to $6.84, Steel and Tube was up 3c to $2.40 and NZX was up 5c to $1.50. Pyne Gould Corporation was down 1c to 42c.

Across the Tasman, the Australian 200 index was down 33 points to 4539.

The dollar is buying 71.72 US cents, 78.61 Australian cents, 46.60 pence, 59.82 yen and 0.5642 euro. The Trade Weighted Index was 66.74.
