Infratil says passenger numbers at Wellington airport rose 2% in August.
In Britain, patronage at its Glasgow Prestwick Airport was 6% higher than last year, which Infratil says is due to more passengers flying to sunny destinations.
Freight volumes were on par with last year.
Freight through Kent International airport fell 13%, because a poor harvest in Africa meant fewer imports to Britain and a cargo operator was suspended in July.
Passenger traffic rose 11% on the preceding month.
Meanwhile, bus patronage rose 6% in Auckland, and 8% in Wellington.
