12:09 pm on 21 September 2010

Sales by Restaurant Brands have continued to rise, helped by a return to growth at Starbucks Coffee.

The company, which also owns the KFC and Pizza Hutt chains, made sales of $97.2 million between May - September, up 3.9% from a year earlier.

Sales at KFC stores open more than a year continued to be buoyant, rising by 5.9%.

Sales at the Starbucks coffee chain have been declining for more than a year, but returned to growth this quarter, expanding 2.4%.

Restaurant Brands credits ongoing work on operations and improving the product and value at Starbucks, for the sales turnaround.

But, sales at Pizza Hutt fell 2% and it continues to close its dine-in restaurants.

Sales from all of Restaurant Brand's stores reached $100.4 million between May - September, an increase of 3.7% on the same period the previous year.
