The Australian Competition and Consumer Commission has given interim approval to an airline alliance between Virgin Blue and Etihad Airways of Abu Dhabi.
It considers the deal would add capacity between Australia and Abu Dhabi.
Earlier this month, the ACCC blocked an alliance between Virgin Blue and Air New Zealand on flights between Australia and New Zealand, saying it would have hurt competition on Tasman routes.
