ANZ plans to open a back office in Chengdu to support its expanding Chinese operations.

The bank says the centre will employ 300 staff by end of 2013, and provide a Chinese-language call centre and back office facilities.

Its Chengdu operations are expected to open in March, and the bank aims to open 20 outlets in China over the next three years.

ANZ hopes to get one-fifth of its profit from Asia by 2012, and already has back offices in Australia, New Zealand, India, the Philippines and Fiji.
