A local information service to bring Auckland businesses and their customers together has been launched by New Zealand Post.
It's a diversification for the state-owned postal operator, which hopes to utilise everything from leafleting to social networking for businesses - for a fee.
Auckland businesses can now join the Localist database, ahead of it going live next year.
Localist chairman and former Kiwibank chief executive Sam Knowles says he hopes the business will start turning a profit in its second or third year.
Mr Knowles says the service will be rolled out across Auckland first, before taking it nationwide.
