China's economic growth slows slightly

China's economy slowed further in recent months, as authorities apply the brakes and other economies cooled.

China's economy grew at an annualised rate of 9.6% in the third quarter, from just over 10% growth, the BBC reports.

The figures show inflation is up slightly at 3.6%, while investment in property development is up 36% on last year.

The Chinese central bank shocked the markets earlier this week by raising interest rates for the first time in three years, to try to rein in inflation and a rampant property sector.
