The number of consents issued for new houses fell for the third month in a row in September.
Statistics New Zealand says consents fell 2.6% to 1104 during the month.
Consents have now fallen by 11% since the end of June and are lower than at any time since last July.
Once apartments were included, the number of consents for new dwellings rose 0.5%.
Apartment consents rose from 36 to 60 on an unadjusted basis.
