RBA holds interest rate

9:29 pm on 7 December 2010

As predicted by most economists, the Reserve Bank of Australia has left interest rates on hold at 4.75%.

The moves by banks to increase their lending rates beyond the last official cash rate rise, and the strong Australian dollar appear to be helping to keep a lid on inflation.

Australia's central bank has raised rates four times this year. It next meets in February.
