Services sector flat

Activity in the services sector was flat in November. The BNZ-Business New Zealand performance of services index rose 0.2 points from October, to 51.4.

A reading above 50 indicates the sector is generally expanding.

BNZ economist Doug Steel says a flat result should be read as a pause in the broader economic recovery, which is still taking shape.

He says economic growth is expected to pick up in 2011 and new orders are flowing into the services sector.
