The majority owner of New Zealand Experience, which runs the fun park Rainbow's End, has shelved plans to sell its holding.

Earlier this year, directors of the company agreed to call for expressions of interest on behalf of the trustees of the George Ryerson Gardiner Estate, which holds almost 75% of the company's shares.

But they say no acceptable buyer has been found.

Shares in New Zealand Experience rose 1c to 34c on Monday.
