TUANZ criticises 'behind closed door' broadband approach

The Telecommunications Users Association wants Crown organisations to be more transparent in their handling of the ultra-fast and rural broadband roll outs.

The Government is part-way through announcing which companies have won the contracts to roll out ultra-fast and rural broadband services to most parts of New Zealand.

Telecommunications Users Association chief executive Paul Brislen, who was previously Vodafone's head of corporate communications, says he's worried that many decisions are being made behind closed doors.

Mr Brislen says very little is known about the status of the projects and called on Crown Fibre Holdings and the Ministry of Economic Development to explain what is going on.
