Markets still unsettled by Egypt

Stocks on Wall Street pulled back on Thursday from recent highs, as concerns about unrest in Egypt outweighed signs of an improving US economy.

The Dow Jones Index was down 7 points, to 12,034. The Nasdaq Composite was flat at 2750.

The Australian 200 Index on Thursday gained 24 points, to 4820. The NZX 50 lost 2 points, to 3349.

At 6.10am on Friday, the New Zealand dolalr was trading at 77.23 US cents, 76.35 Australian, 47.87 pence, 63.05 yen and 0.5665 euro. The Trade Weighted Index was 68.50.

Brent crude oil was trading at $US101.15 per barrel and gold was trading at $US1332.80 per ounce.
