A2 milk company starts making money

12:55 pm on 16 February 2011

Specialty milk company A2 Corporation has posted its first ever profit.

The firm made $894,000 in the final six months of last year - a turnaround from the $567,000 loss in the same period a year earlier.

Revenue, including from its newly acquired Australian and US subsidiaries, was $19 million.

A2 Corporation's managing director Geoffrey Babidge says the maiden profit reflects the company's transformation over recent years.

He says sales of A2 fresh milk in Australia have been particularly strong, rising by a fifth in the period.

Mr Babidge estimates sales of A2 products account for 3.7%of the Australian fresh milk market.
