Car production by Toyota tipped to slow

12:39 pm on 25 March 2011

Toyota will slow production at some of its car factories in North America due to a shortage of parts.

Toyota has already halted production at all 12 of its assembly plants in Japan until Friday, because of the devastation caused by the earthquake and tsunami on 11 March.

It says it's not sure how many factories will be affected and how long the slowdown will last.

Toyota says it will analyse facilities in the United States, Canada and Mexico before deciding where the cuts will be made.
