Farm chemicals maker Nufarm has returned to profit as it focuses on developing higher-value products.
The listed company, which makes Roundup, made $A4.4 million in the six months to the end of January, compared to a loss of $40 million during the same period the year before.
Sales rose slightly, up $3 million to $900 million.
Nufarm chief executive and managing director Doug Rathbone says the business has improved significantly in the first six months of the 2011 financial year.
Nufarm expects its full-year operating profit to be a strong improvement on last year's result.
