Manufacturing firm Tait Electronics has taken in some earthquake-stricken Christchurch firms to help keep them in business.

Tait Electronics is one of the biggest manufacturers in the region and emerged unscathed from the 6.3-magnitude quake which caused severe damage.

The company's chief marketing officer, James Kyd, says it has opened its premises to five firms to keep them operating.

Mr Kyd says Tait has also provided meeting rooms so Canterbury University engineering students can attend lectures.
