New car registrations rose by more than a quarter in March compared with Feburary.
The New Zealand Transport Agency says 6079 new cars were registered in the month, almost 13% more than in March 2010.
Used car registrations, which are generally imported used cars, reached almost 7000 last month, 7% more than in February but 10% down on a year ago.
The top selling make in the month was Toyota, followed by Hyundai and Holden.
