NZ dollar rising

1:46 pm on 11 April 2011

The New Zealand dollar has risen against its US counterpart, but is just shy of a two month high reached last week.

The kiwi on Monday was trading at about 78 US cents.

Westpac market strategist Imre Speizer says the New Zealand dollar is rising as global investors increase their appetite for riskier currencies.

It's also been pushed up recently by the weakening greenback.

In the short term, Mr Speizer says the momentum is very positive and the New Zealand dollar looks likely to reach 80 US cents.
