Standard Poor's has affirmed Mighty River Power's rating of BBB+ long-term.
The ratings agency has also revised its outlook to stable from negative, saying the company's financial flexibility has improved, and pressure on its credit has subsided.
The company's decisions to defer major growth-related projects for a few years and limit offshore investments to $US250 million, will also help its books.
