Telecom has suspended its graduate programme for university students next year.
The company says it will not be running a leadership programme because it is choosing instead to focus on its plans for ultra-fast broadband.
Last week it was announced Telecom and Vodafone had won the contract to provide rural broadband.
Telecom says that given the changes the company is undergoing it would not be fair to offer any roles to leadership graduates when there is such uncertainty.
Its accounting and engineering programmes are not affected.
