NZX falls six points

The NZX 50 index fell six points on Tuesday to close at 3486 on turnover of $64 million.

In major share movements, Fletcher Building fell 2c to $9.19 and Telecom 0.5c to $2.13, while Contact Energy was unchanged at $5.86

PGG Wrightson was unchanged at 50c after the Agria-led consortium bidding for PGG Wrightson declared its offer unconditional.

NZ Farming Systems Uruguay gained 15c to 70c after majority shareholder Olam International indicated it is trying to take full control.

Sky City Entertainment and Sky Television each shed 1c, to $3.45 and $5.83 respectively. Pumpkin Patch was unchanged at $1.28.

The Warehouse rose 2c to $3.57 after warning shareholders to be very wary of offers to sell their shares to Cargill Securities, which the Warehouse believes is associated with Bernard Whimp.

In currency markets the dollar was trading at 79.99c US, 74.87c Australian, 48.65 pence, 65.41 yen and 0.5509 euro. The TWI stood at 68.86.

The Australian 200 index was closed for a public holiday.
