A Waikato-based company that specialises in developing human and animal health products has received a $500,000 cash injection.

Quantec Ltd, which specialises in discovering and commercialising high-value bioactives, has received $250,000 dollars from Central Capital Investments to be matched dollar-for-dollar by the Government's Venture Investment Fund.

Quantec's first product uses a cows' milk ingredient it says has anti-inflammatory, antioxidant and antimicrobial properties.

The company is also working on a non-antibiotic, natural treatment for mastitis, which is one of the biggest health issues in the dairy industry.
