Strong Easter sales boosted Kathmandu's performance in the third quarter.

The outdoor clothing and equipment retailer says same store sales in the 13 weeks to the start of May, were more than 23% higher than in the same period a year earlier.

Sales at stores open more than a year rose by more than 20% in New Zealand and Australia, but were down in Britain.

Chief executive Peter Halkett says the company's Easter promotion was helped by good weather and the late timing of Easter.

He says the company remains on track to deliver strong year-on-year sales and profit growth.

Shares in Kathmandu rose by 15 cents to $2.60 after the announcement on Tuesday.
