The number of international travellers passing through Auckland international airport rose by 1.4% to 641,000 in March compared with the same month last year, indicating demand held up following February's earthquake in Christchurch.
Australian arrivals fell by 1.6%, due to a drop from Sydney, offset by rises from the United States and China.
The number of domestic travellers fell 0.6%, with fewer flights.
