Record profit expected by port company

South Port in Bluff expects to make a record profit this year after higher than anticipated cargo flows.

The company has revised its profit forecast for the 12 months to June, predicting earnings will reach between $5.6 - $5.8 million.

The company previously raised its profit forecast in February.

Chief executive Mark O'Connor says the total volume of cargo through the port in the 10 months to the end of April, was about 2.2 million tonnes, up 23% on the same period the year before.
