PGG Wrightson is buying another another seed company in Australia.

The rural servicing and trading company has bought the assets of Southedge Seeds, which is based on the Atherton Tablelands of northern Queensland, Australia's main tropical pasture seed production area.

PGG Wrightson's Australian subsidiary is already the market leader in temperate pasture seeds, but aims to expand into tropical seeds, as well.

PGG Wrightson has been growing its 75-year old seed business in Australia. Last year it bought a South Australian company, Keith Seeds.

But it's also undergoing its own restructuring, with the Chinese company Agria, now its majority shareholder.
