AMI boosts quake response team

7:39 am on 18 May 2011

AMI has appointed Peter Rose as the executive manager to lead its earthquake response team.

Mr Rose, who set up AA Insurance and was its founding chief executive, worked for AMI's actuarial consultants, Finity, for 11 years before starting his own Sydney-based consultancy.

Last month, the Government agreed to a $500 million financial backstop package for AMI after the Christchurch-based insurer admitted it might not have enough in reserves to pay claims from February's quake.

The insurer says it is trebling the size of its quake response team, as moves to assess damage and arrange repairs.

The last day for lodging claims with the EQC is Monday 23 May.
