Reading International is not giving up plans for an 800-seat arthouse cinema as part of a future development in Wellington.

The company has announced plans to shift its international accounting functions from the US and Australia to its Courtenay Central complex in Wellington.

It is considering expanding the Courtenay Central complex further by building a retail development on land it owns nearby.

Chief financial officer Andrzej Matyczynski says the company has recently signed an agreement with a potential tenant to take over most of the space in the development and expects to make an announcement in the next few months.

Mr Matyczynski says the company has not given up on the idea of using the development to house one of its Angelika arthouse cinemas.
