The days of the business incubator may be numbered - if Australia's experience is anything to go by.
Noel Brown works at Creative HQ as a business strategist, helping a select number of firms turn their ideas into internationally viable companies.
His experience in the Australian market is both as an entrepreneur and an advisor to start-up firms.
Mr Brown says Australia's incubators have evolved into innovation centres, which work with firms further along in their commercial development, and he thinks New Zealand will follow suit.
He says innovation centres provide more components and take on existing businesses, providing them expertise to move to the next level.
Mr Brown says they also incorporate commercialisation of science and medical products, and work with universities and research institutes.
