Mobile phone company 2Degrees is offering businesses pay monthly plans in a bid to attract more customers.

The company, which launched less than two years ago, is offering small to medium-sized businesses mobile plans that start at $39 a month for calling, texting and data.

It is opening more stores and employing 70 sales consultants who will visit businesses throughout New Zealand.

Chief sales officer Mark Cleary says the business market is important to 2Degrees as it seeks to become profitable in the next few years.

Mr Cleary says the company asked businesses to send them their biggest bill and found every customer who sent a bill would save money by switching to 2Degrees.

Businesses can keep their mobile phone number if they switch providers.

2Degrees has more than 600,000 customers and made a loss of nearly $77 million in the year to December.
