The New Zealand sharemarket fell in early trading on Thursday.

At 12.15pm, the NZX50 index was down 11 points, or 0.3%, to 3450 on turnover of $40 million.

Across the Tasman, the Australian 200 index fell 15 points to 4590.

The New Zealand dollar was trading at 82.73 US cents, 77.35 Australian, 51.63 pence, 66.88 yen and 0.5773 euro. The Trade Weighted Index was at 71.46.

Fletcher Building was down 11 cents at $8.30, Contact Energy was down 2c at $5.30 and Telecom was down 2.5c at $2.465.

Sky City Entertainment Group was down 1c at $3.63, Auckland International Airport Ltd was down 0.5c at $2.29, The Warehouse was unchanged at $3.56 and Fisher & Paykel Healthcare down 1c at $2.71.

Sky Network Television was up 3c to $5.83.

Nuplex was up 3c at $2.83, Port of Tauranga was up 10c to $9.35, Tower was up 3c to $1.51 and Wakefield Health was up 10c to $5.50. Sanford was down 10c to $5.20.
