Coal mine hearing ends

12:30 pm on 8 July 2011

A resource consent hearing for a proposed coal mine in the Buller district on the West Coast has finished.

Bathurst Resource is providing written responses to questions raised during the hearing.

Bathurst is seeking to construct an open cast mine in the area, producing up to two million tonnes of export coal per year.

It says it has been requested to provide the commissioners with a final draft set of terms and conditions for the resource consents which incorporate matters raised during the consent hearing process.

The commissioners will issue their decision at a later date.
