Markets up

The New Zealand sharemarket edged up on Friday morning.

At 12.16pm the NZX50 index was up 1 point at 3461 on turnover of $39 million.

Across the Tasman, the Australian 200 index is up 27 points to 46 32

The New Zealand dollar has hit a new record post-float high of 83.38 US cents.

It's since eased to 83.25 US cents, 77.31 Australian cents, 52.12 pence, 67.64 yen and 0.5798 euro. The Trade Weighted Index was at 71.83.

Fletcher Building was unchanged at $8.35, Contact Energy was up 4c at $5.36, and Telecom was down 2.5c at $2.495.

Sky City Entertainment Group was up 2c at $3.51, The Warehouse was up 3c at $3.59 and Fisher & Paykel Healthcare was down 2 cents at $2.69

NZX was down 6c to $2.44 after newspaper reports that a legal stoush over the purchase of the Clear Grain Exchange could cost the stock market operator millions of dollars.

Nuplex wax up 2c at $2.89, Mainfreight was up 5c to $10.50, OceanaGold was up 5c to $3.50 and AWF Group was up 4c to $1.85.

Sanford was down 3c to $5.10. PharmacyBrands was down 2c to 63c.
