Council's credit rating outlook downgraded

5:27 am on 15 July 2011

Standard Poor's has downgraded Hutt City Council's credit rating outlook from positive to stable.

However, the ratings agency has affirmed its AA long term rating.

It says the removal from CreditWatch positive reflects the council's concentrated debt maturity profile. Also, it has not reduced its debt as much as previously forecast.

But SP says the rating has a stable outlook because it expects the council's low debt levels will continue to fall, and it will maintain its strong financial position.
